Our Apostolates in Tanzania

St. Vincent de Paul Secondary School – Urambo, Tabora

In 2005, the CMM Brothers answered the invitation of the Archdiocese of Tabora to launch a Catholic co-educational boarding secondary school in Urambo. Officially established in early 2006, St. Vincent de Paul Secondary School offers a complete cycle from Form 1 through Form 6. Today it serves over 600 students with a student–teacher ratio of about 16:1, supported by well-equipped science and computer labs, a library, and a serene learning environment framed by tall trees. Academic excellence and moral formation are central to its mission, earning recognition as one of the region’s top-performing non-government schools.

Community & Pastoral Outreach

From their arrival in 2005, the Brothers have immersed themselves in spiritual and pastoral work across Tabora. They actively support parishes through retreats, catechesis, youth leadership programs, and sacramental preparation, encouraging deeper faith and community participation among over 6,500 Catholics in the area. Their commitment includes regular Eucharistic adoration, formation of Small Christian Communities, and collaboration with local catechists and pious associations, demonstrating mercy through presence and faith formation.

Vocational Training (In Development)

Recognizing the critical role of practical skills in empowerment, the CMM Brothers are developing a vocational training initiative to complement their educational apostolate. Currently in planning, this program will offer workshops in trades such as carpentry and tailoring, tailored to local community needs in Urambo and greater Tabora. Its aim is to foster self-reliance and strengthen livelihoods through skill-building that aligns with the congregation’s mission of holistic development.

Health Partnerships

While the Brothers do not operate their own clinic in Tanzania, they actively foster community health through partnerships with local health centres. They promote health awareness and spiritual care within schools and parish settings, offering pastoral support to the sick and vulnerable. This collaborative model reflects their commitment to tending to the whole person, body, mind, and spirit, through compassionate presence in local health initiatives.

Spiritual & Parish Building

Though technically beyond CMM oversight, the Brothers extend their apostolic reach into parish development, particularly in Makakola Parish near Tabora. Here they support the legacy of Eucharistic devotion by ministering to approximately 3,000 parishioners across 10 substations. Their work includes catechetical instruction, Eucharistic adoration, sacramental ministry, and distribution of essential aids, demonstrating mercy through both word and deed.
